I feel like a new year needs some new tunes. Any recommendations I should know about?
I love reading Black Eiffel for her Music Monday posts. Here are a few from her recent 2011 roundup list that I dig and haven't already had on rotation.

Following his bliss : girl talk
{photo}
While not feeling well but not able to sleep, I tapped around my Hulu app and came across and really inspirational fun little program called A Day In the Life: Girl Talk. Girl Talk is the stage name of Gregg Michael Gillis, who at just 29 is rocking out huge venues with his DJing of all sampled music. He likes to explain how he really is creating his own style/brand of music {his instrument is his laptop} and either way, it's a far cry from his engineering job he had just 5 years ago in engineering.
Here's a video I found on You Tube of one of his shows. Kind of awesome, I think.

The Green Album
In love with this. It's all your favorite bands playing tunes you used to listen to as a kid. It's the Muppets Green Album. You'll fall head over heels because it's already familiar but it has a uniqueness to it.
My Morning Jacket, Alkaline Trio, OK Go, Weezer...
Tell me you don't love it:

More music
I gotta go to bed. But here's another...The Boy and Bear
It's sort of like the reincarnation of last few years' harmonizing dude bands. I like how this song changes it up.

Great Seattle Band
I really love the feel of this song from The Head and the Heart. Sounds so great in a studio session. Makes me miss KAMP stuff. Oh to be 19 again.

Fall Mixtape
This cute blog Live and Enliven has created a Fall music mix. I love finding new music. Especially now that it's so hard being out of the new music scene. I listened to all kinds of great bands when I worked at KAMP Student Radio at U of A in college.
Check out the blog post and music download I found here.

Date Night
I'm so loving being a mommy to 2 completely adorable and sweet kids. I really enjoy being at home and cooking them meals and cuddling up with books or movies. I'm taking the advice of all the little old ladies who stop me at the store to remind me of how precious my time is with the kids while they're small. Great advice indeed.
But sometimes I pretend that my husband and I could go out for a show. This would be one I'd really enjoy:

Miss Neko Case
If you haven't heard of Neko Case. You really need to listen. She's this powerful red head with the most enchanting voice I know. You really can pick any record and any song and it'll be great but here's of my picks:

{Gasp}...I love this!
I saw on a tweet from Country Living Magazine that they loved this new music website: Stereomood. It plays music based upon your mood. I tried out "Dinner with Friends." Check out my playlist - I took a screenshot.
They've got some good taste, right? I'll definitely be going here frequently.
So neat!

jazz on a summers day
Ok, so I'm a jazz nerd. Well, I used to be. I'm trying to get back into it and I stumbled up on this on Netflix: Jazz on a Summer's Day. I watched it while my little love fussed and nursed one morning last week. It's not only a great for tickling your ears but it's just a visually inspiring movie. Wish I could have been there at the Newport Jazz Festival in 1958.
