Real or Fake?

I took these at the new model train museum in Scottsdale.  Pretty spectacular what these clubbers can do.

CSA study

I made this to compare the price of our CSA with Whole Foods produce.  I decided to scrap it but would you like to know this in deciding whether or not to buy from a CSA farm?

Love love love this

One of the projects I intend to finish once Gretchen starts playing by herself for longer spells is to finish scanning my grandmothers old photos.  I'd picked a few favorites to record already.  This might be my favorite.  How sweet are they?  These are my dad's parents, Howard and Maxine 1933.  I love that she's driving and looking at how handsome he was. I never got to meet Grandpa Howard, he passed the year before I was born.

Oranges oranges everywhere

...almost too many to drink.  This was my first and maybe last attempt at marmalade.  I think I just don't like it.  Orange curd, yes.  But marmalade, not so much.  I think it's just too bitter for me.

We've harvested and have been drinking fresh squeezed oj for the last 3 weeks.  I hope the oranges will last as long as I want them to.

More music

I gotta go to bed.  But here's another...The Boy and Bear

It's sort of like the reincarnation of last few years' harmonizing dude bands.  I like how this song changes it up.

Great Seattle Band

I really love the feel of this song from The Head and the Heart.  Sounds so great in a studio session.  Makes me miss KAMP stuff.  Oh to be 19 again.

Typewriter writers

I missed this event.  I don't have a typewriter still but how cool is Phoenix to host this event?

Weekend breakfast inspiration

Dreaming of these cloudcake pancakes.  Have a great weekend all!

Warm lentil salad

Sneak preview of next week's Chow Bella In Season post about turnips.  This salad made me so happy.  Along with my new blue toes...

jam

Today's Phoenix Groupon is for creative classes at jam.  Go get one so we can go together!

I keep reading on friends' blogs in other states about calligraphy classes and such from fun events.  I have a case of the me toos.

I hope jam turns into something special.  I love that they have classes in writing sonnets, canning, container gardening, chess, the salon blow dry...totally fun stuff.

Tory Burch Baja...

Growing up in San Diego, I think this was like school uniform or something.  Anyone else have one of these?  Tory Burch baja, not sure if I love it or not.  Thoughts?

Happy Birthday Dad

I'm so glad we will get to spend the weekend together.  Patrick, Gretchen and I are planning to bake a surprise cake.  Shhh, don't tell.

The Loverly List

So many beautiful things lately.  I've been busy writing posts for Chow Bella about Samoas, Lunch Coops, Swiss Chard and working on more including one about composting.

Here's my latest list.  Enjoy.

1. Jen Altman's new food portfolio.  I love that the food looks "real."

2.  Sunset's new One Block Feast Cookbook.

3. Restaurants at garden centers in the UK.
4. Y La Bamba from Portland

Y LA BAMBA "MY LOVE IS A FOREST FIRE" from Dugan O'Neal on Vimeo.

5.  These casserole totes from Vonny.  Perfect for starting a lunch coop at work.

6. French films.  Trying to finish Breathless on Hulu.  Great article from NYT.

7.  That flip clock screensaver you see in all the design blogs of home offices.

8. Samantha French art.  Wow.

9.  Three Men in a Boat.  My first audible.com purchase.  Can't wait.  Read about it from Aspiring Kennedy.  There's a movie version too that I'll plan to watch with some favorite actors.

10.  Trying to finish Barbara Kingsolver's Animal Vegetable Miracle so that I can make it to the Slow Food Phoenix Book Club meeting at the Downtown Market.
